The monograph examines the role of foreign languages and cultures in different periods of development of our fatherland from the 10th century to the present. Until now; features of the use of ancient Greek and Latin languages are revealed; the place of Latin in the everyday life of Russians, Orthodoxy and the role of classical languages in science are analyzed. The study, due to limited space, is concentrated on describing the influence of classical (Latin and Ancient Greek) and new European languages and cultures (German, French and English). The book analyzes the history and current state of interlingual and intercultural contacts in our country and their influence on the formation of the sociolinguistic situation in it. Particular attention is paid to revealing the relationship between the type of culture (ideational, idealistic, sensual) and the spread and study of foreign languages. The monograph includes the results of a study of the history of teaching and learning foreign languages in Russia, the relationship of this process with the development of culture and education.

В монографии рассматривается роль иностранных языков и культур в разные периоды развития нашего отечества с X в. по настоящее время; выявляются особенности использования древнегреческого и латинского языков; анализируются место латыни в повседневной жизни россиян, православии и роль классических языков в науке. Исследование в связи с ограниченным объемом сконцентрировано на описании влияния классических (латинского и древнегреческого) и новых европейских языков и культур (немецкого, французского и английского). В книге анализируются история и современное состояние межъязыковых и межкультурных контактов в нашем отечестве и их влияние на формирование социолингвистической ситуации в нем. Особое внимание уделено раскрытию взаимосвязи между типом культуры (идеациональной, идеалистической, чувственной) и распространением и изучением иностранных языков. В монографию включены результаты исследования истории преподавания и изучения иностранных языков в России, взаимосвязи этого процесса с развитием культуры и образования.
