The purpose of the manual is to develop reading and speaking skills. The texts, on the basis of which the teaching of the three types of reading - studying, introductory and searching - is based, are selected from periodicals and contain relevant and problematic material on the psychological, biological, social differences between men and women; problems of marriage, family, fathers and children, divorce, etc. Work on the active vocabulary of the lesson, syntax and word formation is carried out on the basis of the educational text intended for the student reading. The material of the sections devoted to the development of oral speech skills is of a pronounced cultural-logical nature.

Цель пособия – развитие навыков чтения и устной речи. Тексты, на основе которых строится обучение трем видам чтения – изучающего, ознакомительного и поискового – подобраны из периодической печати и содержат актуальный и проблемный материал, посвященный психологическим, биологическим, социальным различиям мужчин и женщин; проблемам брака, семьи, отцов и детей, разводу и т.д. Работа над активной лексикой урока, синтаксисом и словообразованием ведется на базе учебного текста, предназначенного для изучающего чтения. Материал разделов, посвященных развитию навыков устной речи, носит ярко выраженный культурoлогический характер.
